What is G43 Chain?

The G43 chain, also known as the high test chain, is a type of short-link industrial chain suitable for medium-load applications.

Although the appearance of G43 is similar to G30, the G43 chain undergoes heat treatment, resulting in a strength increase of over 50% compared to G30 proof coil chain. It’s important to note that G43 chains should not be used for overhead lifting.

Why are G43 chains called high test chains?

This is primarily because G43 chains are made of high-strength materials, and their manufacturing and testing standards are stricter compared to G40 chains.

Their tensile strength is also much higher than that of G30 and other standard chains, making them commonly used in applications requiring relatively high strength. Therefore, they are referred to as high test chains.

What are the differences between G40 and G43 chains?

G40 chains, also known as G4 or BBB chains, share some similarities with G43 chains but are not identical.

G40 chains are made of medium carbon steel and undergo certain heat treatments, providing moderate strength suitable for general lifting or towing purposes.

On the other hand, G43 chains, also referred to as High Test Chains, are made of high-strength carbon steel and undergo more stringent heat treatment processes. They possess higher strength compared to G40 chains, and their standards are stricter. G43 chains are suitable for applications requiring higher strength and safety, such as ship anchor chains, mooring chains, industrial lifting, and transportation.
