What is G30 Proof Coil Chain?
Grade 30 proof coil chain is a medium-strength general-purpose chain. It is proof load tested and has lower strength than the G43 high test chain, the G70 transport chain, and the G80 lifting chain. G30 chain is usually made of carbon steel, with galvanized or other anti-corrosion surface treatments. The links can be long links or short links. It has good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and high cost performance.
G30 chain is usually produced according to ASTM, NACM, DIN, and other international standards. It cannot be used for overhead lifting or other heavy-duty lifting applications. It is mainly used for cargo binding, trailer securing, agricultural equipment, construction sites, ports and docks in non-lifting situations, and mooring or anchor chain for small boats, etc.

The proof load test is a static load test on G30 chains with a load higher than the working load but lower than the breaking load, usually 2 times the working load. The purpose is to check if there is any deformation or breakage and to make sure the chain is safe during normal use.
The standards for proof load testing include ASTM A413, EN ISO 1834 / 3076, NACM, and EN 818.
Proof Load Test Process:
- Place the chain into a special tensile testing machine.
- Slowly apply the load until it reaches the required proof load value.
- Hold the load for a certain time (usually 1 minute).
- After unloading, check if there is any deformation, crack, or welding defect. If there is no problem, this batch of G30 chains is qualified.
Typically, proof coil chain is of G30 grade. Therefore, G30 chains are also referred to as proof coil chains.
